Preparation Strategy For UGC NET 2020 Exam Paper-2

We all know that UGC NET is one of the toughest competitive exams which provide a fellowship and an honorable certificate. In order to study smartly one should know how to use time effectively, prepare with what resourceful materials and what methods to follow.A systematic approach will help to succeed in the exam.

According to the UGC NET exam pattern the exam is divided into two papers---Paper 1 and Paper 2.


The Paper-1 is common for all but Paper-2 has questions from the opted subject only.

UGC NET June 2020 exam will be conducted in online mode by NTA. It will be a computer-based Test(CBT) consisting of two papers,i.e,Paper-1 and 2 conducted in a single session with no breaks. Candidates are required to appear for both the papers in order to be eligible for JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only.

The UGC NET June 2020 exam was to be conducted previously on 15th June 2020 to 20th June 2020.But it has been postponed for the time being and revised dates will be given after assessing lockdown situation.

The subject for paper-II has to be chosen by the candidate. A candidate can choose the subject of his/her post-graduation or a related subject. NTA UGC NET is conducted for a total of 81 subjects.

UGC NET exam preparation strategy for paper-2

The paper-2 is conducted to identify above average and brilliant candidates on the basis of their knowledge in the opted subject for which they are going to give the exam.

This paper has a vast syllabus,so candidates are advised to begin with analyzing the complete syllabus.

Take each topic one by one and cover it up.It may help you in completing such a huge syllabus on time as well.

UGC NET Study Plan

These are some suggestions for students to follow:-

1.Resource Assessment---Before candidates start preparing for the exam they must search for NET Study Material like authorized books from UGC, notes given by experts, solve question papers of previous year’s exams or e-learning programs.

2.Set a strategy---A.Candidates must create an effective study plan and start studying as early as possible.

B.They must schedule their daily activities.

C.They must make a habit of studying for at least 3 or 4 hours a day.

D.Daily revision is necessary. And one may also make notes to facilitate the study process.

E.Candidates must try to teach someone else. It will be a good practice for them.

F.The candidates should avoid continuous study and take breaks after studying for one and half hour or more.

Study Tricks

The candidate should follow a methodical approach and study pattern for reaping out maximum benefits.

  1. The candidate should prepare as many varied topics as can be studied accordingly.
  2. They must study basic concepts at priority.
  3. Paper-2 has questions related to the candidate’s subject in post graduation.So they must revise their post graduation syllabus too.
  4. They must revise basic mathematics concepts from class 10th,focusing mainly on understanding set/patterns and improve approximation techniques.
  5. They must read any new material and try summarizing it in a few points to practice for reading comprehension.
  6. They must try to learn topics by using diagrams, flow charts or by categorizing them in sub-topics.
  7. They must practice as many UGC NET Previous Years Question Papers because it will help them gain speed and accuracy.
  8. Take mock tests and online test series.
