The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) or NEET (UG), is a national level exam which is conducted by the National Testing Agency. This exam is held every year with the aim of recruiting candidates for MBBS and BDS Programmes in India. In this article, we will cover an in-depth analysis of the NEET Exam 2020.


Before we look further, let's first understand the paper pattern of the NEET Exam.


  1. The exam consists of Multiple choice of questions.
  2. The total number of questions asked in the exam are 180.
  3. The weightage of the entire paper is for 720 marks.
  4. Section-wise distribution of questions- Physics (45 questions), Biology (90 questions) and Chemistry (45 questions).
  5. Candidates are rewarded with 4 marks for every correct answer. Whereas, 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
  6. It is an offline exam i.e. pen and paper based.
  7. The duration of the exam is for 3 hours.

As per the orders of the Supreme Court, a single medical entrance test is conducted all over India. The total numbers of seats offered under NEET are 66,000 which is shown elaborately below:

The NEET analysis 2020 will help the candidates in knowing the difficulty level of the exam. Candidates who have given the exam or the ones who wish to give it in the future will find the exam analysis helpful as they get an overview of the exam, the cut-offs and the number of colleges and seats in private and government colleges. It was observed that maximum number of candidates were expecting higher cut-offs. However, they could attend the exam easily.


There were less number of tricky questions that were asked in the exam and 40-50% of questions came from the NCERT books. NEET result 2020 was released on 16th October 2020. It was declared between 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the official site of NTA. The result is declared for both phase-1 and phase-2. The analysis is given more precisely below:


 

  1. 50% of the exam was easy. 
  2. 40% of the exam was on a medium level.
  3. 10% of the exam included lengthy, tricky and time-consuming questions.

 

The registrations for the NEET exam 2020 began on 2nd December 2019 and were extended till 9th February 2020. The exam was postponed due to the pandemic but the admit card was finally released between 26th Aug – 13th Sep 2020. The exams were conducted on 13th September 2020.

 

Section-Wise Difficulty of NEET exam 2020 is given below:


  1. PHYSICS- The physics section ranged from moderate to difficult, leaning more towards the difficult side. The majority of the questions were asked from the NCERT books. A Maximum number of numerical questions were asked in the exam. The calculations were lengthy and tricky. A majority of the questions were asked from topics like Modern Physics, Mechanics and Electricity. 

 

2. CHEMISTRY- The chemistry section was easy and scoring. The majority of the questions were asked directly from the NCERT books. Most of the questions were theoretical and straightforward. Candidates found this section to be- easy to moderate, leaning more towards the easy side. The organic chemistry section did not involve any difficult mechanisms. 

 

3. BIOLOGY- As per the majority of the students, the biology section was very easy. Candidates could easily score more marks in the biology section. The questions were asked from the NCERT books. This section was dominated by questions based on Botany and Zoology. 

 

NEET Analysis 2020: (overall)


NTA conducted the NEET Exam on 13th September and 14th October respectively. As per the students reactions and reviews, the NEET Exam was moderate (both phase 1 & 2). Some students stated that the exam of phase 2 was comparatively difficult than the exam of phase 1.


Therefore, the NEET Exam was ranged from difficult to moderate level. This NEET Analysis 2020 will help candidates understand their performance and the level of the exam.
