People in India generally relate "scholarship" to universities and college studies unaware of the fact that it is as important to school students as it is to college graduates. From ISRO young talent scholarship to national talent search exam nowadays there are abundant scholarships for school students in India.  Teachers and parents need to motivate students to appear in scholarship exams not only for monetary benefits but also because these exams boost the confidence level in students. They get an opportunity to face a competitive world.


Now the parents usually find it difficult to decide when their kids should apply for scholarships. So, the answer is your child can appear in a scholarship exam as soon as he is in class 6th as there are many government and private scholarships for class 6th in India. Because at this age they are mature enough to know what are competitive exams and why they are conducted.

However, in this article, we will cover the scholarships available for class 6th students-

Scheme for Early Attraction Talent or SEATS- This scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Science and Development within the INSPIRE program and is available to students for class 6th to 12th. To get the scholarship, students need to present the best innovative ideas to get rs. 5000 as a scholarship. This scholarship is available to both government as well as private schools but you cannot enroll directly, the school needs to give the list of chosen students.

 

Tata Building India English Essay Competition-  As the name suggests the students need to appear for an essay writing competition that is related to nation buildings. These essays are tested at the school/ state and national level.


Velammal Science Talent Search Exam (VSTS)- This test is open for students of class 1st to 12th but only for the students of Tamil Nadu. The scholarship prize awarded to students is Rs. 4 lakhs in which they test the problem-solving skills of students.



HDFC Educational Crisis Scholarship- This is a program conducted by HDFC bank in India. This is the best scholarship of 2020 available to students of class 6th to 12th in which candidates get selected for their performance in the aptitude test and then they have to clear the interview round. Once selected, applicants earn the fellowship which is helpful to complete their education up to post-graduation level.


Savitribai Phule Scholarship- The scholarship is applicable for Maharashtra students and it aims to encourage the girl students. Students of class 5th to 10th are eligible to get enrolled for this scholarship where they receive Rs. 100 every month as financial assistance from the Maharashtra government.


Pre- Matric and Post- Matric Scholarship- This plan is to assist students of minority communities particularly Muslims, Christian, Sikhs, and Buddhists. This scholarship is funded by the government of India to the student whose family income is less than Rs. 1 lakh per annum. In the pre- matric scheme, students of class 1st to 10th can enroll for the scheme while post-matric students of grade 11th and 12th can enroll here.
