UK PSC Exam Guide: All you need to know

If you are looking to join the state services of Uttarakhand, UK PSC is the exam for you! The Uttarakhand Public Service Commission conducts the UK PSC exam. The exam is the gateway to various state posts like Deputy Collector, District Minority Welfare Officer, Jail superintendent, etc.


The exam is supposed to be Uttarakhand’s toughest exam and has more than 80,000 applicants every year! Following are important details related to UK PSC.

UK PSC Eligibility Criteria:


Eligibility criteria for the exam is based on educational qualifications and age. Following are details regarding the same:


Educational Qualification:

Graduation or equivalent degree from a university recognized by the government.


Age Limit:

Candidates must be minimum 21 years of age and not more than 42 years of age.


Total Vacancy in UK PSC 2020:


Total vacancy for UK PSC 2020 is yet to be released in the official notification. The information shall be uploaded on this page as soon as it is available.


UK PSC Application Process:


Once the online applications start, applicants are required to follow the following steps:

  1. Visit the official UK PSC website, www.ukpsc.gov.in
  2. Register if you are a first time applicant
  3. Save the registration details and use them to login
  4. Enter relevant details carefully
  5. Upload documents with given specifications
  6. Pay the exam fees. Fees is Rs. 150 for general and OBC candidates, and Rs. 60 for SC/ST belonging to Uttarakhand
  7. Save your details and application form for future reference


UK PSC Admit Card:


Admit cards for the preliminary exams are available on the official website around ten days prior to the exam. Please ensure you are ready for relevant details when the admit card is released.

After downloading the admit card, get a print out and do not forget to carry it to the exam centre!

UK PSC Selection Process:


The selection into UK PSC is done through three stages of the UK PSC Combined State Civil Services Exam. These are:

(a) Preliminary Exam which is objective in nature

(b) Main Exam which is subjective in nature

UK PSC Exam Pattern:


Preliminary Exam

The preliminary exam consists of two tests- general studies and general aptitude. Both contain 150 objective type MCQ questions each. Time duration for both exams are 2 hours, respectively. Negative marking is applicable in prelims, with -0.25 for incorrect answers and +1 marks allotted for correct answers. Following table gives these details with more clarity:

Main Examination

The Main examination consists of seven papers of subjective, written type. Each paper, except for language, carries a maximum of 200 marks. The language paper carries 300 marks. The total marks obtained in the mains, along with minimum 35% in language paper, determine a candidate’s eligibility to give the interview.

Personality Test

The personality test or interview carries 200 marks. The marks scored in this have a strong bearance on the final merit list.
