A chemical reaction is the one chapter that is very important to be covered if you are preparing for IIT JEE 2020 Exams. Preparing for the IIT exam is not very tough, but you have to go through the topics precisely. We are not saying that your exams are straightforward,


but studying from the starting makes it becomes effortless to clear. The one thing one has to do is to go through the basics from the starting. When a student is covering all the topics from the basics to the in-depth concept, it becomes effortless to do the last-minute revision at the time of exams.

So here, we are going to discuss a Redox reaction, which is a significant reaction in chemical bonding.


What is a Redox Reaction?


It is the reaction in which the oxidation and reduction reaction takes place simultaneously. In this reaction, the substance undergoing reduction reaction is known as an oxidizing agent, and the element that is experiencing an Oxidation reaction is known as the reducing agent.


One has to read about the oxidizing agent and the reducing agent to understand the Redox reaction properly.

Reducing agents and oxidizing agents play a preeminent role in this reaction. The material causing the oxidation of any substance in the reaction is known as an oxidizing agent and vice versa.


After this, it is essential to remember that neither the reduction reaction nor the Oxidation reaction can occur alone anytime. It will always coincide in any chemical equation or reaction.


There are mainly two type of Redox Reaction


  • One is the inter-molecular Redox reaction, and 
  • The other one is the intramolecular Redox reaction.


In the Intermolecular Redox reaction, the one molecule of any reactant gets oxidized, whereas the particle of the reactant always reduced.

On the other hand, in intramolecular reaction in a single molecule, one atom gets oxidized, and the other atom of the same molecule gets reduced.


Both reaction are significant and are to be covered for IIT JEE 2020 Exam


Now after going through the basic concept of a redox reaction, the other related terms are- Molecular equation and the ionic equations, Spectator ions, along with oxidizing and reducing agents. One has to go through all these basic concepts to know about all the basics of a Redox reaction.\

Therefore one has to properly go through the Redox reaction because it is a preeminent part of the question paper. Many of the chemical reactions are associated with this Redox reaction. 

Nature and behavior, along with the characteristics of this reaction, are very different.


Therefore we always suggest going through all these along with the basic equation. Just mugging up the equation will not be enough because it can come differently in some questions.
