The SSC CPO stands for the Staff Selection Commission Central Police Organization. This exam is conducted for the post of a Sub – Inspector in Delhi Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF’s) and Assistant Sub – Inspector (ASI) in CISF. Candidates who wish to do government jobs apply for SSC CPO Exam. It is a competitive exam and the amount of applicants that appear for the examination is large.

1. English Comprehension - Candidates are required to read quality content. They can read newspapers, various books to gain the specific understanding of the exam. For building vocabulary and to enhance grammar one must read a lot of books.


Candidates are advised to read quality content to have a fair view of the English section in the exam. This section will include Idioms & Phrases, Synonyms & Antonyms, and Error & Omissions.


2. General Intelligence & Reasoning – This section is based on the analogies, coding, decoding, directions, relations, syllogism, mathematical operations, missing characters etc. Candidates must practice and sharpen their logical reasoning and problem solving skills.


Since this is the aptitude section so it might be time consuming. Therefore candidates applying for the examination are advised to practice mock tests and sample papers to do maximum work in the minimum amount of time. 


3. General Awareness & Knowledge – This section analyses the general knowledge of an individual by asking questions from sections like History, Geography, Polity, Chemistry and Current Affairs. The more one knows about the current affairs, the easier it will be to attempt the exam. For that one needs to read newspapers and various magazines to have a sound knowledge of the same. 


4. Quantitative Aptitude – This section consists of questions based on profit & loss, simple & compound interest, trigonometry, algebra and many other mathematical chapters. The books one can refer to are the NCERT books of 11th and 12th.


This section might also be a bit time consuming, therefore one needs to practice hard and train themselves way before the examination takes place. One of the most important preparation tips to crack SSC CPO Paper 1 is to complete this section i.e. solve the maximum amount of questions in the minimum amount of time.   



General Preparation Tips to crack SSC CPO Paper 1 2020 Exam


  1. Analyse mistakes and weak areas.
  2. Strengthen and work on the weak areas.
  3. Take notes of the topics and revise them regularly.
  4. Clear basics and then move on to the difficult topics.
  5. Revise simpler topics later.
  6. Practice and solve previous year’s question papers, mock tests and sample papers to manage time well during the examination.

SSC CPO Exam Analysis 2019 (Student Review):


Some of the students found the exam difficult, while the others found them of a moderate level. Some of the students claimed that the General Awareness section was the most difficult. Questions were asked from the Static GK. English Comprehension section was comparatively easier. Reasoning section was easy but it was time consuming. Quantitative aptitude was also difficult. 




SSC CPO Exam 2020 Important Dates and Information:


The SSC CPO Exam date have been announced on the official site. The SSC CPO paper 1 will be held from 23rd November 2020 to 26th November 2020. SSC CPO paper 2 date has also been announced and it will be held on 26th March 2021. The eligibility criteria consists of two stages i.e. age limit, educational qualification and medical standards.


The minimum age limit to appear for the examination is 20 years, 25 years being the maximum. Age relaxation of 5 years and 3 years is given to SC/ST and OBC respectively.
