National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC):

NTPC is one of the top PSU companies in India. The primary eligibility of this company is for the candidates who have good GATE scores. Based on that, there are a number of openings for the post of Executive Trainees. The disciples for which the candidates are hired are Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, and Instrumentation engineering. 

Further, the eligibility criteria include:

1. Candidates who have or completed their B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Sc. Engineering in the discipline mentioned above. 
2. The maximum age of the candidate must be 27 years for GATE 2021.

The application fees for the same is Rs 150 (through GATE)

The expected vacancies as of this year are 100. 

After clearing GATE with good scores, candidates need to attend the Group Discussion and Personal Interview Round where the final list will be released after both these rounds.

If the candidate gets selected, he/she is eligible for a salary allowance of Rs 24900 during the training period. After the training period is over, one can expect a salary allowance of Rs 25650.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC):

The main criteria of this company are for the candidates to score good GATE marks. If the candidates clear that, they are called for an interview round followed by an academic record check then the final selection list is displayed. The various positions available are Geologist, Assistant Executive Engineer, Transport Officer, Programming Officer, etc. 

Further, the eligibility criteria include:

1. A Candidate must be a citizen of India. 
2. Only those candidates are eligible who hold 60% marks in their engineering discipline.

The application fees for the same include Rs. 370 for General and OBC categories whereas the SC/ST/PwD do not have to pay anything. 

The number of vacancies available as of now is around 785 for various positions. Once the candidate is selected, he/she is eligible for a salary allowance of Rs 24900- 50,500. 

Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL):

The primary eligibility here is the good GATE scores followed by the Personal Interview Round. 75% weightage will be given to GATE scores and 25% will be given to the Personal Interview Round. BHEL only recruit candidates based on the Mechanical and Electrical Branch. The entry position here is Engineer Trainee. 

Further, the eligibility criteria include:

1. A candidate must be a graduate or postgraduate in the Mechanical or Electrical branch. 
2. Candidates belonging to PwD category are eligible for some relaxations in the cut-offs marks for the personal interview round.

Once the candidate is selected, he/she is eligible for a salary allowance of Rs 20,600-46,500 for the training period (Engineer Trainee post). Whereas, after the training period, the allowance can increase up to Rs 24900-50,500.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL): 

The primary eligibility here is good GATE scores followed by the Group Discussion and Interview round. IOCL recruit candidates from Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Chemical disciplines. The positions include Engineers, Officers and Assistant Officer. 

Further, the eligibility includes:

1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. Graduate in the field of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university. 

To apply here, candidates need to fill the online application form from their portal i.e iocl.com. Once the candidate is selected, he/she is eligible for a salary allowance of Rs. 60,000 for the post of Engineer or Officer. 

The Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO):

The main eligibility for candidates here is good GATE scores followed by a Personal Interview. DRDO hires only graduate engineers for the post of Scientist ‘B’. 

Further, the eligibility includes:

The candidates must be an Indian citizen. 

The candidates must score 60% marks in the qualifying exam.

To apply here, one must visit their online portal where the application form is released by the month of March/April. Candidates have to pay the application fees of Rs 100. The candidates will be selected based on the number of vacancies. The total number of vacancies available as of now is around 160. After the candidate has been selected, he/she is eligible for a salary for Rs 15600-39100 and grade pay of Rs 5400.
