Which PSU Companies are Hiring Without GATE?

PSU companies form a major attraction among youth as they offer benefits like good work-life balance, job security, financial stability, housing facilities, loans at lower rates, etc. With such benefits, candidates often opt for a PSU job because today very few or no private sectors can provide these benefits. Every year, many PSU companies hire candidates based on their GATE scores followed by Personal Interview or Group Discussion Round. Most of the top companies have the criteria that candidates should score good GATE marks. As there are only few vacancies available, all the candidates do not get a chance to secure a job in these companies. However, one need not worry as there are many PSU companies hiring without GATE. 

There are three alternatives that one can follow to secure a PSU job without GATE

The first alternative is applying through the UGC NET Exam:

PSU companies recruit candidates based on a valid UGC NET score in any of the engineering disciplines. However, the number of vacancies and the engineering disciplines can vary from one PSU company to the other. After clearing the UGC NET Exam, candidates have to attend the personal interview round. The final merit list will be displayed by taking into consideration the UGC NET scores and personal interviews.

The second Alternative is applying through CSIR NET Exam :

Some PSU Companies hire candidates based on their CSIR NET Exam. A valid CSIR NET score is the main eligibility for securing a job in these companies. After clearing this exam, candidates are called for the personal interview round after which they are shortlisted by taking into consideration the CSIR NET score and the interview round.

The third alternative is applying directly into the PSU Companies:

There are many PSU companies that conduct their own exam to recruit candidates. These companies generally have an exam pattern consisting of 70% technical and 30% general aptitude and engineering mathematics. Note that the selection criteria i.e. the exam scores, personal interview round and group discussion round may vary from one PSU company to the other.

Candidates need to remember that they can opt for these three alternatives if they are not selected through GATE. There are lakhs of aspirants each year for GATE and yet there are only thousands of vacancies for getting into PSU jobs. Also, it is important to check the official online portal of each of these companies to know about the exam dates, question papers, vacancies, etc. However, the exam syllabus is quite similar as GATE.
