The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts board exams for class 10th and 12th along with various entrance examinations like AIEEE, AIPMT and others. Students are often seen in a dilemma asking questions like what to do after 10th board exam or which stream to choose after the board exams.

There are various streams that a student can choose after clearing the 10th board exams. The course that you select must open wide opportunities for you. A lot of changes happen after the class 10th board exams. The streams are different, the subjects are different and so are the job opportunities. But you must keep in mind that a course should offer career growth in terms of monetary satisfaction. 

List of streams after Class 10th 

There are three streams which you can choose in order to move further. These streams are Commerce, Science and Arts/Humanities. There are various subjects under these streams that you have to study in order to apply for further studies and job opportunities. 

1. Commerce:

Commerce is one of the most popular choices among students in terms of choosing a stream. Commerce offers a wide range of opportunities in terms of job or career. The subjects included under commerce are Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, English and Mathematics (optional). Since this stream provides job opportunities in different arenas, it is popular among students for gaining good jobs with quite a reasonable salary. 

2. Science:

Science is not taken / chosen by the students as the career options and the job opportunities are limited in this stream. This stream consists of research work and experimentations. Majorly, jobs are based on these research works. Science is a vast field and covers the phenomena of existence. 

This stream is divided into three parts i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The subjects under science are Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Mathematics, Biotechnology and Information Technology. Science is basically a vast stream but only a few students take up this stream due to the reasons stated above.

3. Arts/ Humanities:

This stream deals with a study of ‘Human Condition’ i.e. critical and analytical methodology used for humans. There are a variety of courses under this stream i.e. literature, history, performing arts and many languages. Arts offer a wide range of career opportunities as in this stream people can make their hobbies a profession and earn a good amount of salary. Well, the syllabus/ subjects in Arts include Geography, Political Science, Psychology, English, Sociology, Hindi and Sanskrit. A good career growth is offered in this stream.

Students are advised to go for government jobs as they offer job security and pension plans after retirement. Government Jobs was always in demand as there is stability. Therefore, students can make a good career out of these government jobs. Some of the government jobs are listed below.

Now, here again, a new question rises i.e. what are the career options after 10th without maths? There are many career options that a student can look up to if he/she is not good at maths. The Commerce and Arts streams provide a wide range of courses which offer good career growth for the individual as well as the company. Some of the course options are:

  1. BBA (Bachelors of Business Administration) – It is a commerce subject which has accountancy as the numerical subject. You need to be good in accounts and taxation in order to apply for this course.
