Non-verbal reasoning is defined as visual reasoning in which you use the visual logic to analyze the visual information like diagrams and figures. It includes questions on series tests, odd figure out, analogy, miscellaneous test and more which assess your problem-solving ability instead of learned skills.



Many competitive exams, entrance tests, placement papers include non-verbal reasoning to check the visual perceptiveness, ability to recognize things, logical thinking, technical ability and more. If you are also preparing for any competitive exam, then you need to work on non-verbal reasoning to score a good rank.


Tips:

Series test:


The non-verbal series test includes non-verbal content like images, shapes, symbols and more in the square box. You need to recognize the pattern and guess the next possible outcome of the ordered series. It includes three types of questions rotational direction series, formational series and completes the missing segment. 


Tips:


Focus on the concept like rotation, change in movement, angles, and positions

On analyzing the movement of shaded part, it is found that it moves clock wise by leaving two and three steps alternatively



Resultant pattern must be constructed using the given figures only 

Eliminate invalid options

Clear concept on folding, opening and cutting of paper

Problem figure comprises of a trapezium, irregular pentagon and triangle and option 1 has all the given figures. 



Study all the figures in problem carefully and recognize a pattern in your mind 

Select the option by elimination method

Break the figure into smaller parts to quickly solve the question

The inverted part gets separated and moves to opposite side of square and option 3 follows the same pattern

Odd figure out: 

You need to select the odd option which does not share any similarity with others in sequence

On analyzing all the square boxes, it is found that the number of black shape figures in a box is equal to the sides of the black shaped-figure.

Non-verbal analogy:

You need to compare two similar pair of non-verbal contents and drive a relationship between them. It requires practice on both logical and intellectual skills
