The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts class 10th board exams and various other entrance exams. Students often ask about various study tips that might be helpful in preparing for the exams. Well, there are various 10th standard study tips that you can undertake in order to clear your exams with good marks. Securing a good score is very important especially in board exams as it might help in shaping the future of students. 


1. Go through the Syllabus:


The first thing while preparing for exams is to go through the syllabus. While reading you can mark the topics that you are weak in or the ones that are time – consuming. Start from the bigger and hard topics so that the syllabus is completed within a stipulated amount of time. 


2. Preparing a time – table:


Preparing a study time – table for class 10th student is very important. A time schedule helps in the timely completion of the syllabus. You can have ample time for revision once you have completed your syllabus. You can take 2 – 3 topics per day and complete it on that particular day. 


3. Clearing the Fundamentals:


Rely on NCERT books for preparation as they clear various concepts. NCERT books serve as the base for clearing the concepts. Take help and solve the NCERT books as it will cover most of the syllabus and will help you in understanding the difficult chapters and topics. 


4. Secondary Material:


You can also take help from the reference books. These books consist of a detailed explanation of various topics and chapters and also various sample papers that will help you in preparing for the exams. You can practice from these books and clear your doubts if you have any.  


5. Self – Study:


Apart from the school and tuitions, a student must solely rely on his/her self – study. Self – study can help you in giving more time to the topics you feel are important. If you make your own time – table and rely on self – study, then you won’t need any tuition classes. Work hard on your weak areas and undertake the preparation strategies. 



How to study for Pre – Boards Class 10th 


The points stated above were some of the preparation strategies that you can undertake to study and prepare for the exams. However, in addition to the above-mentioned strategies, there are other tips that you can follow in order to prepare for the exams. 


1. Plan Whatever you do:


Planning is way more important than preparing. If you plan well in advance for the exams, then it will result in better preparation. After preparing a time – table, plan 2 – 3 chapters or topics that you wish to complete. Planning will result in effective results.  


2. Study Hours:


You must start preparing well in advance for the exams. You must study for at-least 6 – 7 hours per day if you want to complete your syllabus and gain good marks. More study hours will result in efficient results. Therefore, dedicate as much time you can give in order to prepare well for the exams. 


3. Solve Previous Year’s Question Papers:


In order to practice and prepare for the exams, you can solve the previous year’s question papers that are available on the official sites. Solving sample papers and mock tests will help you in preparing for the exams. 


4. Take a Break:


Don’t study for 4 – 5 hours at a stretch. Take regular short breaks in between as they will help you in refreshing the mind. This will result in improved concentration and focus. Therefore, you should take short breaks while studying and preparing for the exams.


Now here arises a question; is NCERT enough for class 10th boards 2020? For some NCERT books are enough. But for some, they are not. It depends upon the student whether he/she wants to practice from other books or not. Reference books are helpful in the sense that they provide various sample papers and the topics that a student might feel difficult to understand.


NCERT books are helpful in clearing difficult concepts. Therefore, it does depend upon the students whether he wants to practice from other secondary sources or not.
