The SSC Stenographer exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to select and recruit personnel for the post of Stenographer Grade C and Grade D.


SSC Stenographer Exam Date


As per the SSC Stenographer notification for Grade C and D, the SSC Stenographer exam date was from May 5th to 7th of 2020. However, these dates have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The new date are as follows (refer the table)-

SSC Stenographer Exam Eligibility Criteria


Eligibility for SSC Stenographer exam depends on the candidate’s age, educational qualification and nationality. Following are details related to the same:


Nationality:


Candidates must be one of the following:

a) A citizen of India

b) Subject of Bhutan or Nepal

c) Subject of Tibetan/ Burma /Sri Lanka/ Pakistan/East African Countries who relocated to India with the intention of permanently settling down in India before 1st January 1962.


Educational Qualifications:


Candidates must have at least passed 12th class from a recognized Board or University.


Age:


  1. For SSC Stenographer Grade C, the age limit is between 18 to 30 years
  2. For SSC Stenographer Grade D, the age limit is between 18 to 27 years

However, age relaxation is applicable for candidates of the below-mentioned categories

SSC Stenographer Exam Admit Card


SSC Stenographer admit card are released region-wise, 3-7 days before the exam. Please keep your Registration ID and Date of Birth handy while accessing the admit card online. You can refer to your regional website for downloading the admit from the table given before.


SSC Stenographer Exam Salary Structure


The salary structure of SSC Stenographer Grade C and D are as given below:

SSC Stenographer Exam Selection Process


The final selection in SSC Stenographer exam is based on two stages, which are detailed below: 

  1. Online Test: This is an objective test to test general awareness, English language and General intelligence and reasoning skills.
  2. Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates from the online test are tested for their stenography skills.

Skill Test


Candidates who qualify the online exam then give the skill test which is qualifying in nature. In this skill test, the candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi. The speed of dictation will be 100 w.p.m. for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The structure of the skill test is as follows:
