The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts 12th board examinations along with various entrance exams. Students are often confused about the courses that they should take after the 12th board exams. Arts and Humanities offer a wide variety and choice of courses but this is not the case with medical and non – medical streams.

1. Forest Department:


You can do a job as a forest officer or guard in the government department. The minimum age to apply for this job is 18 – 30 years. Candidates who wish to do this job must clear the 12th board exams along with any government-approved examination. There are three stages of getting admission in this job i.e. physical efficiency test, physical measurement test and the written test. A forest guard or officer is responsible for taking care of the forest reserves and their properties.


2. Indian Army:


If you want to serve your motherland, then this job is for you. A candidate must score at least 50% marks in the board examinations. However, there are certain criterias that the candidate has to fulfill like measurements and efficiency tests. After these criteria have been fulfilled, candidates can get jobs like a soldier (technical or clerk), nursing assistant or a doctor and many more. This is one of the prestigious government jobs after 12th Non-Medical that one can opt for.


3. Railway Clerk / Constable:


To get a job in the Indian Railways, you need to pass the 12th standard. The minimum age criterion for this job is 18 – 32 years. The exam will be conducted in the online mode. This job includes the responsibility of collecting tickets, reservations and cancellations and listening to the queries of the people. A constable is a part of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) who is responsible for the protection of all working in the Indian Railways.  



4. SSC Stenographer (Grade C & D):


The Staff Selection Commission conducts an examination for the job of a stenographer. To acquire this job, the candidate has to clear the 12th standard along with a government exam from a central recognized institute. The age limit is from 18 – 27 years. This job includes writing, arranging press conferences, briefings, handling public relations and many more. 


5. Delhi Police:


You can also apply for the job of a constable in Delhi Police. The minimum age criterion is from 18 – 30 years. The physical efficiency test and physical measurement tests are taken along with the final written exam. This is then followed by the personal interview round if selected. This job gives a promising career in the government sector.
